My current stay in France with Ted Seth Jacobs

The stay here in France is wonderful, the scenery is beautiful and Ted is a very funny art teacher. I always had the impression he would be more serious. His way of drawing Is very interesting he does not actually use any form of measurements he just draws based on what he says and uses his eyes to confirm measurements.  I am staying at a small town right past Les Cerquex Sous Passavant, It is a beautiful small farm town with many cows and haystacks. I will post some photos of teds school at Ecole Albert Defois and some pictures of the town.

Everyone here is really nice and if you cant speak French you can ask Parlay voo anglias (do you speak English?) my host is really nice and his house is stunning. It would appear that the room I am staying in is an old part of the house and there is a new part of the house attached to it.

There are many houses for cheap here but it would be difficult to raise the money to pay for it. I would love to move here in the peace and quiet and work all day. coincidentally it is not very hard to meet my quota of 12 hours a day. I might even be able to extend that.

I have to work as much as possible while I am here!

The workshop is through Bacaa and Linda the owner of the school could not be more nice!
http://www.bacaa.org/  She feeds us students every day and drives us to the store if we need more groceries for good. She does have some workshops with Micheal Grimaldi and Dan Thompson that I plan on attending!

I still have my gofundme account open if anyone is interested in getting an understanding of what my goals are while im here in France. http://www.gofundme.com/uqdnp4

I will also be painting while I am here so I can work as much as possible

New Info May 2015 Update

Its been quite some time since I last posted, I have apprenticed under a painter last year and learned as much as I could regarding painting and color.

I will be attending Studio Escalier this August for there painting Program and Also will be attending a workshop with Ted Seth Jacobs In June. this year.

I gained entry into Angel Academy of Art in which i plan to Attend next year in March, I will apply for the green shields grant to pay for Angel Academy. If I do not receive the grant I will have to wait on Angel Academy.

I also will put together a portfolio of works to gain local gallery acceptance in Scottsdale, Arizona.

I am also nearly done with Goldfingers book on anatomy, I have copied every single plate thus far, and have intentions to do so again 4 more times.  to memorize the shapes needed to construct the figure.

I have the preliminary stages of a drawing book lined out which I intend on publishing later on this year through blurb.com but have yet to confirm who my publisher will be.

enclosed are some new works I have completed.
I will keep this blog more up to date in the future.

Landscape, update, work work work

I have been super busy lately took a trip to the getty, been working on a drawing book, master studies in oil, etc

so I've got a TON of new stuff to post but i don't have the time right now to do so. I'm actually getting some copies of my ted seth jacobs dictionary of human anatomy book copied so i can practice his process as my warm ups for drawing the figure accurately.

so ill just post this painting i did. nothing great but it has good memories worked super early in the morning to finish it in cattonoga california.

if you notice on the bottom of my easel I'm using the 3 primary colors as a point of reference. as well as black and white. from my understanding after working with painter timothy rees (google him you won't be disappointed) its all about relationships  for example.  one color may look cool or blue but if you add another shade a blue thats even more cooler then original color will in turn look warmer compared to the newer color. ill post some examples of what i mean possibly this weekend. its very interesting as this form of understanding. i.e comparing relationships is a processed used in drawing when comparing line, shape, value, and in painting. color.

also I'm working on my portfolio for espalier and the green shields grant. very nervous about 4 years of studying lets see how good i am..! and if someone thinks I'm worth it enough to pay for my trip to europe!

Update

UPDATE:

So if some of you have followed my blog for the past couple of years or some of you are new readers, you would know (will know) that i have been trying for the past couple of years to save for studying in Studio Escalier. This past year i was closer then ever super close! (kinda) working a new job saving tons, planning long term, knocking things off the to do list thats needed...planning for afterwards and future study locations (Russia is already next on the list).

Anyways the first deadline to ensure that Id get to France and pay for tuition is coming up this January and even with Half the school paid (best case scenario) I still would not be making it by May next year. Unfortunately this postpones everything by another year....

Good news is i can save more long term....bad news is....gotta wait another year. in the meantime ill continue to study as much as possible, take workshops at the local schools and take it day by day....

Might try kickstarter as last resort but we shall see...

As Always...signing out,

Alejandro
