I was recently asked to teach a workshop on basic drawing techniques at the Farm In Phoenix, Arizona. I am overwhelmed to begin teaching and to grow and learn from these experiences. Also, this will help me begin to establish myself a little more In my community as an individual who Is taking portrait painting very seriously. I am posting a link for the workshop Information, tell your friends and family tell everyone! Min of 6 max of 12 students.

I will be covering basic drawing techniques, measuring, proportions, establishing values, using your eye to "see" how to break down complex shapes into basic shapes and recreate visually the world around you. Beginner level but anyone Is welcome.

I have 2 separate days I am teaching, Oct 27th and Nov 3rd 8-11 a.m.

Master study In oil after Bouguereau

I recently started learning how to paint to advance my career as a portrait artist, I was struggling several weeks ago so I decided to do several master study's In oil to get a better handling of oil. This Is the first study still In progress, Its a sketch In oil after the French Artist Bouguereau I plan on completing the study after I finish another small assignment for a client.

Basic Shape study

I was having a little bit of trouble painting recently I could not figure out how to layer values on top of each other properly without making everything to gray. So I decided to take out my book titled Light for the Artist By Ted Seth Jacobs. There are several examples of rendering basic shapes to understand light and form rendering, understanding how to draw and paint these basic shapes well Is the groundwork for drawing anything. When an artist draw's they break complex shapes into basic shapes, circles, squares, cylinders, and cones. If one replicate shadows, lights, values on basic shapes they can use these tools to draw complex shapes such as the human form.

Bargue plate page 7

Another Bargue plate completed recently, I had completed several small studies In oil on basic shapes and understanding light (the basis of drawing realistically) After completing the small study I finished this Bargue plate In several days and It was so much easier to complete because I can confidently say I thoroughly understand how light works (when it comes to drawing).
