2 More studies, just keep practicing and practicing plan on painting all the photos on my Goldfinger Anatomy book

2 more studies the second study was with my new brushes, the edges are still rough but its getting easier to handle the paint which is good. Each one i will continue to refine and further understand paint handling. I've got about 1 year and a half to catch up 10 months from my new job and the remainder from my previous job where i was at a stopping point. Now that I've worked at a good standing in my position i can continue to practice.

France is almost here...

1-2 hour study

another short study

Another "poster" study

Obviously these are not refined by the least, but that main objective isnt to make a pretty painting, its to understand paint handling.

Anatomy Paint study

The only way for me to get better at painting is to practice now, practice, practice, practice.

First study of the night before sleep.

Although the canvas i selected for practice is rough, im going to gesso them next time to get that smoother feel....nonetheless its a good practice for paint handling, love the thicker lights but the values are still a little dull on the leg. To much of the same tone gives no illusion of form, so i've decided ot do little shape studies right next to the anatomy study.

Essentially, I am studying from the same anatomy book that i've spent the last 3 years copying from, there are black and white photos i am copying from, and just focusing on those to get a form of light and value and the greyscale format before i move to color.

I still have to juggle this between my other projects, spanish lessons, work, and trying to work out...life keeps my busy now a days.

Almost there.

Its been quite some time again, for those of you that know me you might've heard the news for those that haven't heard, the funds have officially started rolling in for Studio Escalier. Cost goal is 11k for 3 months of studying, however I am actively putting together a strong portfolio and applying for scholarships to get the cost down and get to france faster. Above is a painting I am currently working on black and white w a sienna undertone, still handling brush strokes...still getting used to the painting.

Considering to going back to the Bargue plates and finishing up some more to regrasp the understanding of control, measurements, corrections, etc.

Also, bought some basic shapes to study from so that will be exciting, and purchased the Ted seth jacobs dictionary of the Human form book....very excited to recieve that and continue to understand human anatomy as that is ESSENTIAL for portraiting painting. I could just be an optical painter but i prefer to understand the structure of the human form, as an architect would be intimately close with the structure of a building, the bricks, mortar, steel framing...understanding every little aspect down to the granite and pebbles.

Almost there...just a matter of time.
