Basic Shape study

I was having a little bit of trouble painting recently I could not figure out how to layer values on top of each other properly without making everything to gray. So I decided to take out my book titled Light for the Artist By Ted Seth Jacobs. There are several examples of rendering basic shapes to understand light and form rendering, understanding how to draw and paint these basic shapes well Is the groundwork for drawing anything. When an artist draw's they break complex shapes into basic shapes, circles, squares, cylinders, and cones. If one replicate shadows, lights, values on basic shapes they can use these tools to draw complex shapes such as the human form.
